What is dry brushing?
Dry brushing is simply a way to stimulate your body’s circulation and lymphatic systems. An ancient practice, dry brushing is now resurfacing and gaining popularity, both in spas and at home. It boosts circulation, sweeps away dead skin cells, stimulates the lymph nodes, improves digestion, improves the appearance of cellulite, and helps the cells and body in general remove waste. It also acts as a shot of espresso to your body! We recommend dry brushing in the morning, rather than before bed because of its energizing qualities.
Coconut Oil and Dry Brush
Dry brushing combined with coconut oil is one of the most popular methods for reducing the appearance of cellulite.
After a hot shower, while the pores are still open, apply coconut oil on the body. Start at your feet and brush upward towards the heart. When you start on your arms, begin at the hands and work upward. Use firm, small strokes upwards, or work in a circular motion. For the stomach, work in a counterclockwise pattern. For best results, choose a natural, preferably vegetable-based brush. Avoid using the ones made with artificial fibres.
This method further helps in eliminating toxins and fats accumulated in the cells by opening up the pores. Dry brushing also helps to get rid of dry skin on the kneecaps, elbows, and ankles. This ensures tighter skin and proper blood flow to all the organs.
