Sip On the Goodies - Golden Milk

Golden Milk (Turmeric Milk) has been a well-known medicinal drink in Ayurveda for centuries. It has been my favourite nightcap of all time. It is jam-packed with immunity boosting ingredients that pretty much do everything you are looking for.

Turmeric is proved to help fight gas, bloat, and indigestion. It contains Curcumin which often appears in Ayurvedic medicine. One of the major benefits of Curcumin brings to us is better digestion. It also has antimicrobial properties that help protect the body from respiratory infections. It basically kills inflammation in the body. I often make this drink as an immune boost against colds and flu. It also helps reliving my headache.

I always add a dollop of Conscious Coconut Oil  to my Golden Milk. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which is a natural antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral. It just adds an extra boost to the immune system.

Sometime I prepare my  ‘Golden Honey Elixir’ ahead and mix it with different drinks whenever I want. You can mix it with juices, warm water, tea, coffee or even your overnight oats. If you have never tried turmeric before, start slow to get used to it.

Golden Milk Recipe

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom

A dash of cinnamon

A pinch of black pepper

1 teaspoon sweetener of your choice (I used honey)

All you need to do is blend the ingredients, put in a saucepan to heat up for about five minutes (no boiling!) and then drink it. 

Golden Honey Elixir Recipe

1 tbsp ground turmeric

1 tbsp ground ginger

1/4 tbsp black pepper

1/4 cup honey (I used Manuka honey )

A dash of cinnamon

Combine everything in a small airtight container and mix well!Hurrah!
